Rosemary Antioxidant Extract - Controls Surplus Free Radicals

About 20 years ago, researchers at Rutgers University, in New Jersey, took out a patent on a food preservative obtained from rosemary.  The discovered that constituents of rosemary reduced the effect of oxidation, and in further studies, identified the substance as rosemary antioxidant extract.

It transpired that rosemary antioxidant extract contained a number of substances that have antioxidant properties.  These substances include eucalyptol, borneol, pinene, and camphor.  There are other chemicals in rosemary antioxidant extract such as quinines.  Quinone is said to be useful in limiting carcinogens that are associated with cancer, because of which it is suggested that rosemary antioxidant is highly rated as a food that may assist in preventing cancer.

Rosemary antioxidant extract is also available as a dietary supplement from health stores, but fresh rosemary should be your first choice.  It is usually available from markets and allows you to make your own rosemary antioxidant extract.  If you wanted to store it for use at a later date, you could dry the twigs and the leaves, in a warm dry airy place.

There is little doubt that rosemary antioxidant extract is useful for helping to deal with surplus free radicals, which you may read about elsewhere in this web site.

Rosemary is also known in botanical circles as Rosmarinus Officinalis  and perhaps a herb with so many therapeutic uses warrants such a wonderful name.

Rosemary's other herbal uses are almost legendary, as it has been associated with assisting to alleviate so many disorders.  It is said to soothe the nerves, and lift the spirits, as well as being of help with headaches and digestive problems.  It is even recommended as a cure for a hangover.  So, if you ever enjoy a glass of red wine, strictly for its antioxidant content, but accidentally overdo it, Rosemary may help to put you right!
